Nutmeg

Nutmeg  dob. 04-06-00

Introducing Nutmeg, aka Nutty, a 4 year old Welsh cross mare who joined our family today (4/6/04).  The plan is for this little lady to teach the many Bergman grandkids to ride and I think she's just about perfect for the task.  Nutty is calm, sweet, people friendly and so far she doesn't seem to have any bad manners.  Before coming to her new home at Compass Rose Farm she had been used lightly as a lesson pony and has learned to walk, trot, canter and even jump with small people on her back.  Her past owner said she has competed in several shows and earned a couple of first place ribbons.  I'm very excited about her future and hope the rest of the family shares my enthusiasm.   As far as big brother Ruben is concerned, he doesn't understand the fuss we're all making over Nutty and would just as soon I took her back from whence she came.

April 25 - Well, Nutty is now happily relocated to her new home in N.Andover, Massachusetts.  My sister owns a beautiful lesson barn, Windkist Farm in New England and we both think this is a good place for Nutty.  She'll spend a few months learning to be horse again, giving rides to kids who'll dote on her, and return to Compass Rose Farm as a true children's pony.  My hope is that she'll get used to grooming, tacking up, and especially giving inexperienced kids a safe ride.  Go Nutty!

Current Events 2004

May 10 - Sunday was a great day at Compass Rose Farm.  Three little grandchildren got their first ride on Nutty and I do believe there may be some future equestrians in the making.  Corrinne, Sara and little Dave took advantage of a lovely spring day to get acquainted with this little pony and I must say everything went perfectly.  Nutty was everything I hoped she would be and I see a bright future for her with the kids.  Corrinne was the first rider and  would have been happy to be the only one.   She loved the whole experience and I am now trying to arrange lessons for her.  Sara went next.   Initially she was a little afraid but that ended quickly and she even cried for a second turn. But Little Dave was the surprise of the day.  After the two girls finished riding he asked when he would get his turn.  And so he did.
