Brett is the baby of the family and that's a tough spot for any kid.  Just ask Tammy!  You get lots of hand-me-downs and all your big brothers and sisters tell you what to do.  In the end time is the great equalizer and the few years difference in everybody's age just melts away.  But when you're only 5 years old that concept is meaningless and childhood must be confronted and conquered first.  Brett's lucky because he has some BIG uncles (well, OK, one) who think he's pretty special and will always take his side..

Brett is in the 3rd grade at Springwoods Elementary School and is an Honor Roll student.  Although Brett is only 8 years old he's already an accomplished swimmer, having achieved a B time for 10 and unders in the breaststroke.  And when the weather permits Brett can be found on the soccer field, working out with his challenge team under the watchful eye of his coach, Neil.  Brett also belongs to the Boy Scouts of America and loves camping with his dad.

January 24 - Brett just sent me the particulars on his exciting trip to see the Monster Trucks in Washington, DC.  It seems that on January 12, while his mom and Aunt Cathy were treating me to a birthday dinner, Brett, Jake and their Dad were doing some male bonding on a level that only guys can understand!  According to Brett they saw Grave Digger, Ninja Turtle and Virginia Giant Blue Thunder, which won the jumping. (I don't know what I'm talking about!)   Brett, we have to get together so you can bring me into the 21st century as far as Monster Trucks are concerned.

June 2 - Saturday, May 6, was a big day for Brett, he celebrated his 1st Communion.  To help make this special day even better his mom and dad hosted an afternoon barbecue in his honor.  Family and friends attended including the Smiths, Thal-Larsens, Huffstutlers and Opa.  Unfortunately I was on my way to the Bahamas (annual ladies spring vacation) and couldn't make the occasion.  But Opa took lots of pictures and I almost feel like I was there.

July 14 - I was so proud of Brett today!  He rode Nutty for the first time and really showed what the Henry kids are made of.  This little guy had never been on a horse before, and had many reservations about riding Nutty.  But he did it and did it well.  Miss Donna was patient as Brett built up his confidence but, in the end, he rode around the arena like a pro!  And he wants to ride again!  This is my kind of guy!
