Caitlin is the senior member of the grandchildren.   She's just about to finish 7th grade and will turn 13 in August.  Most of her spare time is taken up with swimming, Caitlin's great at this sport!  I suppose she takes after her mom in that respect.  Another interest is music.  Caitlin has been taking violin lessons for the past several years and plays in her school orchestra.  It seems like only yesterday that Debby and Neil told us we were going to be 1st time grandparents.  How time does fly!

Current Events 2007

Caitlin, the oldest grandchild, is now 15 years old and a 10th grader at Garfield High School in Woodbridge.  She's enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program where she is an honor roll student and currently ranked 9 in her class of 646 students.  Caitlin plays the violin in the high school orchestra, the Youth Orchestra of Prince William - Youth Symphony Orchestra, and qualified this year for the Senior Regional Honors Orchestra and the Prince William County Senior All-County Orchestra.  Caitlin also swims year round for Prince William Swim Club, "Amberjax" and the Garfield High School team.  And can anybody believe that she will getting her learner's permit on February 3, 2007!

January 22 - Caitlin showed off her expertise as a violinist on Sunday evening, January 20, when she performed a full concert with her orchestra, the Youth Orchestra of Prince William County - Youth Symphony Orchestra.   Opa and I were in attendance and enjoyed the music as it was played by this talented young group of musicians.  After the show we bought ice cream and rented DVD's, went back to the Henry house, and while the kids had a bowl of the high calorie stuff we adults had a glass of heart healthy wine.

January 27 - Today Caitlin swam in the Cardinal District Championship meet and placed 3rd in the 200 IM and 4th in the fly. Her 400 freestyle relay and 200 freestyle relay hold the school records and the 200 free relay broke it's own record again this weekend at the district meet where they placed 2nd by about 5 seconds!  Go Caitlin!

Current Events 2004

March 26 - Congratulations to Caitlin!  I understand she swam in a swim-a-thon to help raise money for her swim team and completed 190 laps.  That should translate into big bucks if all her sponsors were as generous as Grammy was with their pledge.  It seems I owe $45.00.  Well, I can't expect everybody to be as proud of her accomplishments as I am, being her grandmother.  Since I was a swim team mom in the ancient past I know how very difficult it is stay committed to such a demanding sport.   And if anybody doubts this, just ask Debby - she has been both the swimmer and the swimmer's mom.
