Our Family

Deborah Lynne

Debby is our first born and thus endured the best and the worst of us as new parents.  However, we must have done OK because she turned out to be a fine young woman and a great mother herself.  After graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in marketing Debby decided that business wasn't for her and returned to school to get a masters in education.  Today she spends part of the day teaching 5th grade science and social studies for the Prince William County school system and the rest of her time carpooling 4 busy children to dozens of activities.

Catherine Anne

Cathy is our second daughter and also a source of great pride.  She attended Virginia Tech for 3 years before settling on nursing as a career.  Unfortunately Tech doesn't have a nursing program so she transferred to George Mason University and finished two years later with a BSN.  After working as a floor nurse for a couple of years, Cathy also chose to pursue further education and today she has an MSN and is a licensed family nurse practitioner.  When she isn't caring for 3 small children, she can be found working in her father's allergy practice.

Kenneth Robert, Jr.

Ken, better known as Sport, is the third child, first son and reluctant bearer of his father's name.  He attended Virginia Tech, graduated from James Madison University and received an MS in physiology from Georgetown before enrolling in medical school.  Sport graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine 5 years ago and recently completed a residency in ENT.  He, his wife Amy, and 3 young daughters currently live in Germany while Sport pays back the army for a very expensive medical education.  We all anxiously await their return to Virginia in the summer of 2006.

David Michael

David is our bonus boy.  He provided a short-lived gender balance in the family but could not overcome the inevitable female dominance.  Today David and Sport are best friends, as they have always been.  David stepped out of the medical mold and became a lawyer.  He graduated from James Madison University,  went on to Widener University School of Law to receive a J.D., and today he is a lobbyist for marriage and family therapists in Washington, DC.  His joy in life is his beautiful wife, Lee, and 2 active children.

Rebecca Dianne

Becky tipped the scales in our family in favor of the girls.  Now the guys were really at a disadvantage!  But the conflicts of childhood disappeared over the years and today this group of kids is very close.  Becky also graduated from James Madison with a major in nursing and went on to the University of Virginia for an MSN.  Following that was a postmasters program leading to a license as a Family Nurse Practitioner.  At present Becky works part time in the CCU at INOVA Fairfax Hospital and in her spare time she's  on the mommy track with 3 young daughters.

Tamara Susan

Last but not least is Tammy.  She became my sixth child in 7 years and then I really had my hands full!  Luckily Tammy was a mother's dream and exactly what I needed for my retirement from childbearing.  Tammy is a University of Virginia graduate and also has an MS in Public Health from George Washington University.  After earning an MD degree from Medical College of Virginia she began a residency in internal medicine and is due to finish it this summer.  For the next 4 years Tammy will be living in Morgantown, WV while hubby Rob wraps up his residency in orthopedic surgery.  They have 3 sweet children.
