Tammy and Rob

Tammy and Rob

Tammy and Rob had been in a serious relationship for almost 5 years when Rob pleased the whole family and presented Tammy with a gorgeous engagement ring.  The big event took place July 22, 2000 and today they are just another old married couple.  Life is surely hectic at their house in West Virginia since both are residents with erratic hours and 3 small children, Robby, III, Emma and Ava to chase after.  Tammy is just finishing up in internal medicine and Rob has several more years to go before he is ready for private practice.  Eventually they plan to return to Virginia and join the medical community here.

January 5 - Today this family swelled to 5 when Ava Catherine was born by C-section in Morgantown, WV.  Mom was surprised to deliver a girl but rumor has it that Dad knew the gender from the beginning.  He saw the sonogram and turned out to be rather accomplished at interpreting these images.  Now Tammy and Rob have joined the growing number of family descendants where females outnumber males.  Only Cathy and JP have more boys than girls.  Rob, you and Robby have your work cut out if you don't want to be overpowered by all your lovely women!

Current Events 2004

March 19 - Wow, what a great 5 days was had in San Francisco!  Kenny, Tammy, Cathy, and I flew to California on Friday to attend the annual convention of the AAAAI  but the trip really turned out to be a wonderful family bonding experience for the four of us!  Those in the medical profession (all but me) attended lectures and seminars in the AM and early PM that counted for CME credit, but after 3PM we were free to enjoy the diversity of northern California.  The highlight of our trip was a visit to Alcatraz, the famous maximum security prison that incarcerated Al Capone.  After a cold, dismal afternoon on "the Rock"  we all agreed that a life of crime was not worth the consequences if one were apprehended.  Those cells were really small, maybe 5 feet by 9 feet.  Not the luxury facilities available today.   Tammy returned to WV and her life as a mom-housewife-resident on Tuesday in the very early morning.  I hope she had an enjoyable flight home.

April 13 - According to rumor, Rob really does have some x chromosomes running around in his manly body and he is soon to be the father of a new baby girl!  I'm thrilled since I was afraid poor Tammy would produce only boys and never know the joy of a mother-daughter relationship.  Now I can quit fretting and just await the arrival of Emma, who is due to make her appearance by the end of June, just in time to keep Tammy company as she studies for the second part of the National Boards in medicine.  Way to go Tam and Rob!

June 27 - Well, the awaited day has come and gone and the Smiths are no longer the parents of an only child.  From June 22 onward little Robby will be sharing his house, toys, and most importantly his mom with new baby sister Emma Lauren. Everything went well with the birth, if not exactly according to plan.  Tammy had hoped for a natural delivery but in the end she required a C-section.  Fortunately the end results were the same and Emma arrived in perfect form.  Tammy will have to stay in the hospital a little longer to recover from the surgery but should be home before the weekend.
